This is especially true when a climate involves factors conducive to creative thinking and problem solving. These factors are so deeply ingrained that most people are highly resistant to change. For most of us, changing the way we perceive and react to situations would require a major readjustment in our personalities—a feat that would be extremely difficult if not impossible.

Although some research suggests that groupthink may occur only with members low in dominant behavior (Callaway, Marriott & Esser, 1985), too much confidence in any group has the potential to make problem solving difficult. This is especially true for groups using CPS. Because creativity requires new viewpoints, all groups should seek out other viewpoints.
